New energy vehicles refer to other energy vehicles besides gasoline and diesel engines, such as hybrid vehicles, hydrogen powered vehicles, solar powered vehicles, fuel cell vehicles, etc. These vehicles have a common feature - low exhaust emissions, hence they are also known as "green and environmentally friendly" vehicles. To ensure green and environmental protection, the electrical connectors used should not only be safe but also environmentally friendly.

These green cars have a working voltage range of 400V-600V and a working current range of 50A-300A or even higher. During operation, operators will inevitably come into contact with the engine compartment throughout the entire life cycle of the car, thus requiring high standards of electric shock protection. To ensure operational safety and prevent car combustion, electrical connectors require special design and development.

When selecting shell materials for new energy vehicle electrical connectors, the first consideration should be weight, strength, and ease of processing. Moreover, the stability and conductivity of the material properties of the connector terminals at different temperatures need to be considered; Secondly, it is necessary to ensure that the temperature rise does not exceed the rated value under high voltage and current conditions. Therefore, thermoplastic housings and silicone sealed electrical connectors are often chosen because they can withstand extreme humidity and temperature.

There are many types of structures used in aviation plugs, and different structures have different advantages. For example, using keying/polarization treatment can prevent improper engagement without spear contacts, and can prevent damage or entanglement; Integrated CPA can prevent accidental unlocking; Sealing interfaces and wires helps to protect the environment, and so on. Design can be considered based on actual needs.

Nowadays, the automotive entertainment system is constantly expanding. In order to provide drivers with a wider field of vision, some models install cameras on the reversing mirrors, and there are USB interfaces inside the car for data transmission. Sometimes, it is necessary for the electrical connector to have both GPS signal transmission and broadcast signal transmission issues, and the ability to transmit data needs to be improved.

The car engine is usually located in front of the car and generates heat. Even with a firewall for protection, heat is still transmitted, which requires electrical connectors to have the advantage of withstanding high temperatures.

The service life of connectors is usually 3-5 years, but the service life of electrical connectors on cars should be the same as that of cars, which means that the minimum service life should be 10 years. This requirement is quite high, and the selected material should have the advantage of high service life.
